{DIY} Family Photo Display

'Tis the season! I love this time of year, especially because I get super crafty, and have a lot of projects going on. It might also have to do with the fact that my school semester is ending in less than a week! Can I get a hallelujah?

I just had to share with you guys our family photo display. We added it to our fall decor, and I think it will look great as our Christmas card display as well. It's really great in that I can just switch out the photos for Christmas cards.

I stumbled across the idea on pinterest via Simply + Kierste, and changed it up a bit. I couldn't be happier with the results, and it's such a simple little project.

To make your own, you'll need:

pallet wood
stain
craft paper
paint
twine
nails
clips (mine are extras from our Ikea art display)

Check out those quality pop tab hangers ;-)
We started by assembling the pallet wood into a sign. It definitely doesn't need to be perfectly spaced. I like to separate the boards a little. Once we secured them to the backing boards, we stained the fronts with a deep brown color (kona I think?).

While the stain was drying, I designed the 'family' and flourishes in Silhouette. Here's** the file, in case you're interested. I used some cardstock for the images, and just traced them with pencil onto the sign, filling in with an off white latex paint. It might work out to just stencil them on with some paint & a foam brush, but I wasn't brave enough to go that route. Either way, I love how it turned out! Very worth the extra time spent, in my opinion.

And last, I had my husband hammer some nails into the side, in order to hold up the twine for the display. We used some clips that we had left over from our Ikea art display, but you can also find other options at your local craft store.

It has been so fun seeing all of our fall memories displayed and I can't wait to put up Christmas cards from all of our friends and family. This would make an excellent gift!
