On the Market {Come Tour My Home!}

Yesterday was a pretty big day for our family. We put our little ranch home here in Houston on the market. And we're moving.

To Ohio.

You read that correctly. My husband and I grew up in Ohio and both of our families still live there. We relocated to Houston about six years ago for his job. And now that our children are getting older, we've decided it's best for us (and them) to move back North.

Our decision has not been an easy one. It's something we've been considering for the past 9 months. We've made wonderful friendships here in Houston and we truly do feel at home here in the South. But, it definitely hasn't been easy at times.

Being 1400 miles apart from family can be challenging. My husband travels frequently and we have no babysitter down here. So, needless to say, when he is home, date nights and time away from the kids happens very rarely. As in, we maybe get to go out alone once a year!

So, after many long talks, tears and hesitations, we made this decision. And now the ball is really rolling! There's a sign in the front yard and we start showing the house on Saturday. Eeek!

So, if you or anyone else you know is looking for a sweet, little ranch home in the Houston area, send me an email!

And now, for more pictures of our humble abode. I just love looking at houses online... It's always fun to see how people decorate their homes. What paint colors they choose, décor they like and how many pillows they have! #pillowhoarder

I just love our master bedroom. It's cozy, light, bright and a wonderful place to relax in the evening!

We only have three bedrooms, but it was worth it to turn one of them into a playroom for our boys! It got the toys out of our living room and it gave me a reason to go color crazy in this small, yet fun space!

And now they share the third bedroom below. It's a small space and bedtime can be challenging. They're quite stubborn little guys and give us a run for our money when it's time to get them to fall asleep in the evening. A bit like herding cats- it's nearly impossible!

Our backyard is simply awesome. It's a "large" space for this area. The covered patio keeps us cool in the hot summer and our kids have a blast playing with their friends in the yard. :)

And there you have it. Lots of change is coming our way. We have our fingers and toes crossed that our home sells quickly. Because we don't plan on buying anything in Ohio until we've sold this house. I'm excited to go house hunting, though!
I can't wait to share our new home with y'all. :)

    1. Thanks, Jennifer! I love how it turned out, too. And, it's SOO nice to have a place for all of those toys to go that isn't my living room. :)

  3. I LOVE the fact that you put your home for sale on your blog! I don't know why I haven't done that. We have ours on the market in middle Georgia. Your home is beautiful. I do understand the need to be closer to family which is an excellent support system. We hope to move closer to our grandchildren when our home sells. 4. Your home is so cute I'm sure it will sell fast. We looked into moving to Ohio a few years ago and unfortunately it didn't work out for us. I know exactly what you mean about limited date nights with no one to watch the little one. I'm so happy that this is working out for your family!

  5. I totally understand the decision to move closer to family... My husband and I are making the final call this week to stay with our current (US Government) job in Puerto Rico or quit and move back home to Florida to work for the family business. It has been an on going debate for the past year and we are really down to the wire. Our shipping container is supposed to arrive this week and we are still not sure if we should do it or not.... Congrats on making the call, we think that being close to family is one of the most important things and the entire reason that we are contemplating this choice.
    Good luck on selling your place!! And all the luck in your new adventures in Ohio!
