Huckleberry Life {And a puppy makes 6}

I've been so busy over the past couple months, that I forgot to mention that we adopted a puppy! Even with all of the craziness in our house (we have 3 kids under 4), it felt like something was missing. You know, that warm and fuzzy, wet nosed, happy to see you presence that goes along with a dog. Well here she is, our super soft and fuzzy, cute and cuddly, hyper and friendly Goldendoodle, Maizy.

For a while, we had wanted a dog to join our family, but our circumstances were not the best. Three little ones running around in a not so big house, with a small back yard, is not so pet-friendly. Once we moved into our new place, our backyard more than quadrupled, and the idea of a dog popped up in a few conversations.

When I saw her on a rescue group on Facebook, I knew that she was perfect! It was right before bed, and I saw her posted. She came from a very loving home, and they were so sad to give her up, but their older dog couldn't handle Maizy's puppy playfulness. I immediately responded, woke up my husband, and told him the exciting news of what I had found!

After talking with the former owners and meeting Maizy, we knew that she was a perfect fit for our family. But being a five month old, she also came with some challenges. I am so happy that she came with training from Barkbusters. We called them immediately and David Hay came out from the West Houston branch. He. was. wonderful. I cannot thank him enough for helping us with her issues, like counter surfing, toy chewing, jumping to greet guests, and walking on a leash. I love the system and know that it truly works with our dog.

 So although we haven't been as consistent as we should, she's still a wonderful dog! I love that she plays so nice with the kids, letting them tug on her and practically ride on her back. She's got two speeds, hyper-crazy (usually lasting 5 minutes), and dead-asleep (the rest of the day). We crate her, but she also loves jumping up and cuddling in our bed. And now that we've had her for 3 months, I can't imagine our family without her. She complete's our picture :-)

What do you love about your fur-baby?
