Recently, we received a message that our little blog (which is only 3 months old) had been graciously nominated for a Liebster award. Linda from Night Owl Corner had decided that from all of the wonderful new blogs out there, we would be one of the few she nominated. I can't even begin to tell you how honoured and excited we all were! Then a couple of days later Mikaila from A Little Bit of Craft sent us a message that she had also chosen to nominate us. We were floored. I mean we love our blog, but there are hundreds of fantastic blogs to choose from so to be chosen twice is very humbling. Thank you so much ladies for taking the time to recognize and share the love! The Liebster Award, for those of you who don't know, is a way to recognize and share the new blogs that are just getting on their feet. Blogs who qualify for nomination have less than 200 followers. It is a great way to help support the little guys. (And we must say, we appreciate it). We are so excited to get to pass this on to our favourite 11 bloggers as well.
As with all things, there are a few fun rules:
The
Rules:
{1} Each
blogger should answer the questions the nominator has asked you.
{2} Choose 11 new bloggers to pass the award on to and link them in your post.
{3} Create 11 new questions for the nominees.
{4} Go back to their page and tell them about the award.
{5} Each blogger should post 11 random facts about themselves.
{2} Choose 11 new bloggers to pass the award on to and link them in your post.
{3} Create 11 new questions for the nominees.
{4} Go back to their page and tell them about the award.
{5} Each blogger should post 11 random facts about themselves.
Our questions from Linda:
(Since there are 5 of us, we each randomly chose a couple of questions to answer. And those questions that could be answered as a group were.)
{1} Why did you
start blogging?
We started blogging, when one night at one of our Craft & Scrapbook get togethers, we all decided that we were crafty ladies and how fun would it be to share our 'mad skills'. We are also such great friends, that we knew putting ourselves out there, would be a great bonding experience. :) ~Huckleberry Love
{2} What homemade project are you most proud of?
My up-cycled play kitchen project! I love that we were able to turn two pieces of sad furniture into this amazing play space for my kids. We didn't rush the process and instead waited for the right pieces to come along. It goes to show that good things come to those that wait and that sometimes it's okay to let a project sit while you are waiting for that perfect accessory to finish it off. Because, honestly, it's the little things that make a project truly spectacular! ~Lydia
{3} What's the best
costume you've ever worn?
Well, this past Halloween I created a pretty fun clown costume out of a bunch of wacky Goodwill finds! I dressed up my two little guys as clowns, too. We had a great time with it! ~Emily
{4} What is your favorite book and why?
Ack! This is almost as hard as asking me to pick my favorite dessert! I think I would have to say The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. I love how the book lauds individualism and encourages the reader to learn to think for themselves and not follow the crowd. Being true to yourself is the most important thing, especially when it comes to creativity and I love the way this book expresses that idea. ~Lydia
{5} What was your
most recent trip of more than 50 miles?
Our family just took a road trip that went from Houston - Biloxi, MS, - Locust Grove, GA (just south of Atlanta) - Nashville, TN - Little Rock, AR - Dallas, TX then home again! Whew! We had a great time and the kids did great in the car with all that crazy driving! ~Karla
{6} If you could have a super power, what would it be?
I would love to be able to transport myself from place to place. With all of my family being up in Canada, it sure would save on air fare! ~Jamie
{7} Pinterest or
Facebook?
Pinterest is probably our favourite forum for sharing. It is a place where other craft lovers can go to share their ideas and finds, We also find that Pinterest brings in more blog traffic than Facebook. We can definitely all agree that we would rather spend our computer time browsing Pinterest than Facebook, for sure!! ~Huckleberry Love
{8} What is your biggest pet peeve?
Oh man... sadly I have quite a few of them! But, the one that will make my friends laugh the most is probably the fact that I despise getting wet with clothes on. I will most likely never speak to you again if you decided to throw me in a pool! ~Emily
{9} What is your favorite childhood memory?
I loved riding horses around our country house. We would go for hours without a care in the world! ~Jill
{10} How would you describe yourself in one word?
Enthusiastic. I am an enthusiastic mom, wife, cook, crafter, and teacher. I try my hardest in all that I do and take such enjoyment in doing so. ~Jill
{11} What are you thankful for today?
We are all incredibly thankful for the amazing husbands and children we have. Our lives have been forever changed by the love and joy they have brought into our lives. We are thankful for the great friendships we have developed with each other as well, obviously!! ;) ~Huckleberry Love
Our questions from Mikaila:
{1} Do you still live
where you were born?
Only two of us still live where we were born. Both Lydia and Jill were born 'deep in the heart of Texas'. Emily is from the great state of Ohio. Karla was born in tropical Guam. And I am from the frozen North, Canada. :) ~Huckleberry Love
{2} What is the thing you like to do the most?
{2} What is the thing you like to do the most?
Besides spending time with my family, my favourite thing to do is play soccer. I have been playing since I was 4 years old and I hope it remains a part of my life for many more years to come. ~Jamie
{3}
What number of child are you?
I am the second, of two :) My sister is four year older than me. ~Karla
{4} What is your dream
vacation?
Although I've been to Europe, I'd love to do it again with my family (when the kids are a bit older and can appreciate it). Spain, France, Italy, and Greece. I love the rich culture and history. ~Jill
{5} Pets or no pets?
We are a family of animal lovers! Right now we have a cat, dog and a few fish. We also foster Boxers (they're our favorite breed!) and have fostered three in the past year. We are hoping to adopt our own Boxer baby soon. :) ~Emily
{6} Do you like your given
name?
I love my name. It's classic, but not too popular. My mom named me after a favorite childhood friend. ~Jill
{7} What is your favorite food?
You will never hear of me turning down Mexican food. Ever... ~Karla
{8} Morning person or night owl?
Night owl! Getting into bed before midnight is early for me. It is also when I am able to get a majority of my craft projects done. Midnight crafter...that's me! ~Lydia
{9} Thing you've done most recently that you were most proud of?
It may not be the most recent thing, but over the last year I have lost 25 lbs. Bye-bye baby weight, until the next one comes along. :) ~Jamie

{11} Describe your childhood in one word?
Adventurous! ~Emily
