Bavarian Nuts {Recipe}

So last week I started a diet. My hubby absolutely hates it when I diet, not because I’m trying to look and feel better, but because his sweet tooth is neglected. In an effort to reduce temptations, I pass on bringing home the go-to treats that we usually keep hidden in the pantry.  So it’s 7:00, we’re craving a sugary snack, searching the fridge, freezer, and pantry for something that can satisfy. What can I make that’s quick, easy, and sweet?

These Bavarian nuts surely did the trick! You remember, the ones they sell for outrageous amounts at the mall. Well let me tell you, they taste just as good, if not better when you make them yourself.

Bonus: the kids loved helping shake the bags and eating the “babarian nuts” or “ti-ti’s”, as anything sweet is called by my son, Harry.  I plan on making more of these closer to Christmas for some homemade gifts because they were that good. Hope you all enjoy them as much as we did. :)

Cinnamon Sugar Pecans
recipe from Baked Perfection

2 egg whites
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 tablespoon water
1 pound pecan halves
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat.

In a gallon sized freezer bag mix together the egg whites, vanilla extract, and water. In a separate gallon sized freezer bag mix together the sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add pecans to the bag with the egg white mixture. Seal the bag and shake around the pecans until they are evenly coated. Transfer the coated pecans to the bag with the sugar mixture. Seal the bag and shake around until the pecans are evenly coated with the sugar mixture.

Spread the pecans on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for one hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool completely before serving.

Go ahead and give them a try! Feel free to tell me how much you enjoyed them in the comments :)
